Guided Ascent of the 'Perpetuum Mobile' Route at Corral del Veleta, Sierra Nevada
Experience a guided climb on the classic Perpetuum Mobile route (105 m, grade 5+), featuring excellent rock quality, an alpine setting, and professional guidance to ensure a safe and enjoyable ascent.
Objectives:
– Experience multi-pitch rock climbing on a classic route
– Learn to tie a figure-eight knot and belay with a MegaJul for safe climbing
– Practice belaying a climbing partner from the anchor
– Get familiar with multi-pitch climbing equipment
– Learn essential climbing knots, including the figure-eight
Who is it for:
This activity is ideal for climbers looking to explore guided multi-pitch routes while enjoying the spectacular scenery of Sierra Nevada
Itinerary:
We depart from the Albergue Universitario via the 9:00 shuttle, arriving at the Veleta starting point around 9:20. After a short walk to the base of the wall, we equip ourselves and begin climbing
The route follows a diagonal line to the right, passing under a prominent overhang, then continuing upward to the second anchor. From there, we turn left up a dihedral to reach a small ledge for the third anchor. We continue right along a slightly overhanging dihedral with easy progression, arriving at the historic Llambrías section, where we set up the fourth anchor. The final section is a straight ascent to the top, where we establish the fifth anchor, climb a small final step, and reach the summit
At the top, we take photos and enjoy the views while organizing the gear. The return involves a 20-minute walk back to the Veleta shuttle to catch the 17:15 service. If shuttle space is unavailable, the walk back to the Albergue Universitario takes approximately 40 minutes
